SCHOLARSHIPS:

Scholarships are available at this time.

If a scholarship grant is available, the following criteria applies:

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of two criteria: economic need and scholastic achievement. Economic need is determined from annual income. Scholastic achievement is determined by a combination of highest level of education and grade point average. Although these criteria are not perfect measurements, they do provide an objective mechanism for determining eligibility for scholarships, which prevents any bias from entering the selection process for scholarships. We strongly support equal opportunity for all people regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, age, or any other factors that otherwise can bias a selection process.

To apply for a scholarship, you must submit a financial statement for the previous calendar year, such as an IRS 1040 form or equivalent for applicants from outside the USA. If you are a dependent, then submit a financial statement for yourself and the person that claimed you as a dependent on last year's tax forms.

Also submit a transcript of the highest level of education that you completed. For example, if you have a 2-year A.A. degree, then submit a transcript only for the college; you do not need to submit the high school transcripts as well. This transcript should include your grade point average while attending that school. If you transferred schools and the school you attended the school that you graduated from for less than half of the duration of the program, you must also submit a transcript from the previous school. For example, if your highest degree is a high school degree and you attended one high school for the first 3 years, and a different high school for the last year, then you must submit a transcript for both high schools.

Even if your income is not extremely low or you do not have higher level degrees or a high grade point average, you may still want to apply for a scholarship. The total amount of scholarship money that will be distributed depends on how many students enroll. The greater the number of students, the greater the amount of scholarships because Avalon can better afford to provide scholarship money when the number of student enrollments is high. The average scholarship for a student will be about $1000 for a specific year, per semester for a full time student. If we receive donations to the Scholarship Fund, the amount will be even greater. This means that, on average, about 1/2 of the tuition fee is covered by a scholarship. Some students may receive a scholarship for half of the tuition, or possibly even more.
